Why Choose Mediation/Arbitration?

“Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser—in fees, and expenses, and waste of time.” ------ Abraham Lincoln

Two centuries ago Abraham Lincoln, then a trial lawyer in Illinois where he practiced until shortly before his election as President, understood that not all civil disputes should be resolved through trial. While trial by jury is an essential and basic right under our Constitution and is available to every individual, there are circumstances when alternative forms of dispute resolution provide less expensive and more efficient means of addressing legal disputes. Civil litigation is requiring more and more time and expense for parties and insurance companies. Costs for investigation, expert analysis, proof and protracted discovery procedures, together with the increasing uncertainty of jury verdicts, have prompted counsel and their clients to seek alternative means of resolution where appropriate.
